There will be no September meeting.
The Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc. sent a letter of thanks for the donation of 25 pillowcases.
We are now officially members of Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc. of Wright Patterson A.F.B.  We have been awarded a membership card and a lovely certificate to that effect.
Melanie and Sarah will take a box of fleece dog blankets to shelters in our area.
Sarah had a request from the Union police force for pillowcases to give to children the police need to remove from homes.  She took 18 pillowcases for this cause.
A recommendation was given to the group by Melanie to make a quilt to raffle for a fund raiser to the Fisher/Nightingale Houses, Inc.  The second log cabin the group made last year might be used for this cause.  The quilt is ready except for binding.
21 pillowcases, 5 bibs and 2 small blankets were finished this evening.

Several ladies attended Monday evening.  We finished some pillowcases, made some bibs and finished a couple small quilts.

Several pillowcases and small blankets were delivered to nursings homes.

We will not meet in June.

See you the third Monday in July.

Thirteen ladies attended the April meeting.  There were six sergers operating to complete 49 blankets to be used with wheelchairs.  With the smaller cuts of fleece, 42 dog/cat blankets were completed.

Twenty five pillow cases were finished to count towards the Million Pillowcase Challenge.

We will not be participating in  Old Fashion Days Quilt Show this year.

At the May 16th Piecemakers meeting, the group will continue to work on lap robes and walker bags.

ANNIVERSARY MEETING

It was a rainy turning to freezing rain evening for the meeting, but twelve of us made it to our anniversary celebration dinner meeting.  Everyone had a choice of either bring a dessert or a salad to share.

Rose passed out a list of all our charity projects for 2010.  We were all amazed by the amount of work we had done for our community.

Our group is now a member of the Million Pillowcase Challenge

We received a letter from Miami Co. Family Abuse Shelter praising us for our generous donations to the shelter.

Suggestions of possible recipients' for this coming years projects

a.  pillowcases for persons in nursing homes

b.  quilted lap robes for the VA

Any other suggestions are welcomed.

MARCH MEETING - SEW PILLOWCASES.  Bring material and machines.  (27" for body of case and 12" for cuff of case.  We will also continue working on the 5" square throws.

Piecemakers of Ludlow Falls


January 17, 2011
This is the first anniversary of the Piecemakers. We organized in January of 2010.
Thirteen were in attendance. The group was busy cutting batting and backs for the small 5” square throws sewn together at previous meetings.

The ‘pets’ quilt for DogGone Pet Adoptions is ready to be quilted. Melanie Fausch has volunteered to long-arm quilt the ‘pets’ quilt. Sarah Shell volunteered to sew the binding. A collection was taken to off-set the expense of the quilt.

A list of up-coming events was passed out.

For the February 21st meeting, we will have a carry-in of salads and desserts to properly celebrate our first year anniversary. The time to gather is 5”30 pm rather than the usual 6:00pm.
